Our Life in Six Lyrical Poems: Elizabeth Bishop

Poetry Course
Participants: Michael Braziller & Alice Quinn

The course will be taught by Michael Braziller, the Publisher of Persea Books, an independent literary press he co-founded in 1975, which is devoted almost exclusively to educational and poetry titles. Mr. Braziller and his guest, Alice Quinn, will look closely at several poems by Elizabeth Bishop that deal with travel and the memory of home, including "At the Fishhouses," "Questions of Travel," "In the Waiting Room," "The Moose," "One Art," "Poem," "Vague Poem," and "In a Cheap Hotel". The principal emphasis will be on the emotional and psychological life of the poems. No prior registration or fee is required. To view the poems, please click on the link below (you can choose PDF or Word format). Please bring a printed copy to the class. Copies of the poems will not be provided at the event.
